Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (UIB), head of the Laboratory of Molecular Biology, Nutrition and Biotechnology of the UIB (1995- ) and of the Group of Nutrigenomics and Obesity (NUO) of the CIBERobn. Member of the Board of Directors of CIBERobn (2010- ).

 

Chairman of the Scientific Committee of the Spanish Agency of Consumer Affairs, Food Safety and Nutrition (AECOSAN) (2001-2011), vice-president of the Scientific Panel on Nutrition of the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) (2002-2009) and member (1997-2000) and second vice-president (2000-2002) of the Scientific Committee on Food of the European Commission (SCF).

 

Coordinator of the European project BIOCLAIMS (2010-2015) on nutrigenomic biomarkers for health claims of food.

Prof. Luis María Arola Ferrer

Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the URV and General Director of the Technology Centre for Nutrition and Health (CTNS), specialising in nutrition and health, with strong links with the Spanish food industry.

Prof. Alejandro Cifuentes Gallego

HIGHER COUNCIL FOR SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH · CSIC

Research Professor of the Higher Council for Scientific Research in Madrid and head of the Laboratory of Alimentómica (CIAL) and of the Metabolomics Platform on Campus CEI-UAM + CSIC. He was Director of the Research Institute of Food Science and Deputy Director of the Institute of Industrial Fermentations (CSIC).

 

His activity focuses on the development of advanced methods of analysis for Alimentómica, quality and food safety, as well as isolation and characterisation of natural bioactive compounds.

 

Editorial Board member of 12 international journals.

Prof. Marta Garaulet Aza

Professor of Physiology at the University of Murcia (Spain) and Associate Professor of Physiology at Harvard University (Boston, USA).

 

Her research group has pioneered the study of chronobiology and obesity. She has been a visiting professor at the Human Nutrition Research Centre at Tufts University, Boston, USA.

 

Since 2009, she has been collaborating with Dr. Frank Scheer at Harvard Medical School and Dr. Richa Saxena at the “Massachusetts General Hospital” (Boston, USA) as a visiting professor at Harvard University during 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016.

Prof. Ángel Gil Hernández

Professor at the Institute of Nutrition and Food Technology of the UGR.

 

Head of the research group of the Junta de Andalucía “Nutritional Biochemistry: therapeutic implications”; president of the Spanish Nutrition Society (SEN); president of the Iberoamerican Nutrition Foundation (FINUT); founding member of the Spanish Academy of Nutrition and Food Sciences; and member of several national and European networks and national and international committees related to nutrition.

Prof. José Alfredo Martínez Hernández

Professor of Nutrition at the University of Navarra since 2002 and director of the group “Obesity, Nutrition and Health” at the University of Navarra. Associate director of R&D&I at INIA (Soria), member of the Scientific Advisory Group of the 7th framework of the EU and of the Council of the IUNS (2005- ), and academic of the Royal Academy of Pharmacy.

 

He was secretary of the Federation of European Nutrition Societies (FENS, 2003-2007) and president of the Spanish Federation of Nutrition, Food and Dietetics (2005 to 2010).

Dr. Manuel Portero Otín

UNIVERSITY OF LLEIDA (UdL) · IRB LLEIDA

MD and PhD in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Lleida, specialising in somatic aging, endocrine physiology and pathophysiology.

 

He has been associate dean, director of studies and professor at the UdL, as well as co-director of the “Nutren-Nutrigenomics” group.

Prof. María Puy Portillo Baquedano

Professor of Nutrition at the Pharmacy and Food Science department (UPV/EHU).

 

She leads the “Nutrition and Obesity” research group, which is part of the CIBERobn and of the “Food and Healthy Lifestyle Habits Campus of Excellence (Euskampus)” of the UPV/EHU.

 

Vice-president of the Spanish Society of Nutrition.

 

Coordinator of the Degree in Human Nutrition and Dietetics (UPV/EHU) and director of the Master and PhD in Nutrition and Health (UPV/EHU).
